Ok so maybe you won't find this word in any dictionary, but I do predict it will someday be in the Merriam-Webster dictionary.  It was just too fun of a word to pass up; real or not.

Every morning you will find me procaffeinating; especially on Monday mornings!

Me Time

Do you make time for yourself?  You are just as important as everyone else that you make time for.  Maybe even more so.  It is hard to juggle our crazy lives and most of the time our needs come absolutely last.

When our needs are not been fulfilled it can cause us stress and maybe even resentment.  So why not schedule time for yourself?  Having a little Me Time always makes me feel giddy and recharges my batteries.  This is the time that I indulge in what I want to do!  Through the wonderful ladies in my Collaborating For Excellence group, I learned that I need to schedule time for myself.  Add allotted time right to my calendar just like it was an important meeting or appointment.

You are important!  There is only one of you.  Celebrate that.

I have decided that my Me Time is going to by Friday Flick night.  Friday nights I am going to rent a movie that I want to see and snuggle in with my blanket and my dog and just veg out in front of the TV.  It doesn't matter if the movie is cheesy, sappy, scary or whatever; because it is only me and there is no one around to judge.  Except maybe the dog, but thankfully she is unable to speak.

What do you do for your Me Time?

Word of the Day

discombobulate   \dis-kuh m-bob-yuh leyt\
  • to confuse or disconcert; upset; frustrate
After travelling, I always feel discombobulated.  Probably because I get pulled every time I fly for the random security check.  I must look like a shady character.

Mojo Monday #371

It's Mojo Monday!

Here is the sketch for this week:

And here is my card:

So much fun!  Thank you for visiting!

Trivia

This is from Trivia Today and I thought it was very interesting:

Question: In which country is it illegal to sell or import chewing gum?

Answer: There is a ban on selling or importing chewing gum into Singapore which is strictly enforced. The sale of gum was banned in 1992 after gum was used to shut down the SMRT, the country's public transportation system, after it was stuck on the sensor doors and brought the system to a halt. The punishment for smuggling gum into the country is a year in jail and a $5,500 fine. Since 2004, only chewing gum of therapeutic value is allowed into Singapore under the "Regulation of Imports and Exports (Chewing Gum) Regulations." Gum can be bought from a doctor, but must be prescribed.

Downsizing

When we moved from Wisconsin to Georgia, we moved from a 2 bedroom home to an apartment.  My craft room went from a huge room in the basement...

To a 5x5 foot closet...

Talk about major downsizing.  I have to say downsizing was the best thing for me to do.  I had to change my focus on my oodles of craft genres (beading, polymer clay, scrapbooking, paper crafts, sewing, misc. crafts...you name it I had it) and pare it down to only a couple.  I chose to stick with paper crafting and sewing.  I sold or gave away all the other paraphernalia I had and just kept some of the basics and can't live without items.

What an absolutely freeing experience.  I am no longer overwhelmed when I walk into my Craft Closet.  I used to feel like a little kid in a toy store and just could not decide which toy to play or which toy to bring home with me.  I was over stimulated.

Now it is much simpler and I have to use my creativity to create things that my fancy machines and tools used to create for me.  I am challenged with coming up with other ways to do things and this has inspired me to start adding a Simplify category to my blog.  Don't get me wrong...I love all the tools and machines and wonderful craft supplies out there. I just do not have the room now to have all the wonderful supplies.  Stay tuned for future posts on how to simplify.

Here are a couple of close-ups of my Craft Closet.  The bins, baskets and containers all came from a dollar store.

For inspiration, I have a photo of my son when we was born and one of his senior pictures.

The letters DREAM, I picked up at a garage sale.  A young girl had decorated these letters and was selling them in the garage sale. She was such a sweet girl and I loved that the colors matched what I already had for decor in my Craft Closet.  I had to have them.  Now when I look at these I think of that sweet little girl and how inspiring to see someone young be so creative.

Word of the Day

comeuppance   \kuhm-UHP-uhns\
  • a deserved rebuke or penalty
  • Informal. deserved reward or just desserts, usually unpleasant
Strive to live your life so that you will receive lavish rewards instead of a comeuppance. Woody from Toy Story says this very elegantly "So play nice!"

Mojo Monday #370

I love to challenge myself creatively and found this wonderful website called Mojo Monday Card Sketch Challenge.  By doing the Mojo Monday challenge I will be doing a card a week and the goal will be to actually get ahead on my card making.

Here is the sketch for Nov 3, 2014:

And here is my card:

Word of the Day

Sinistral    \SIN-uh-struhl\
  • left-handed
  • of, pertaining to, or on the left side; left (opposed to dextral)
Due to my husband being sinistral, we take great care to position ourselves carefully when eating at a restaurant with other people.  I am right-handed and having us bump elbows during a meal would be distracting and a injustice to our dedication and enjoyment of our food.

Word of the Day

Nonchalantly     \non-shuh-lant-le\
  • relaxed and calm in a way that shows that you do not care or are not worried about anything.
I think it would be fun to nonchalantly walk up to random strangers and say random nonsense like "The drop has been made." or "The code word is Hairy Monkey Knuckles."

Thank You Cards

I think it is wonderful to let someone know that you appreciate them when they have touched your heart.  I have some absolutely wonderful and amazing friends and family!  Here are a few Thank You cards that I created this past week.

Word of the Day

Muster     \ˈməs-tər\
  • to work hard to find or get (courage, support, etc.)
  • to gather together (a group of people, soldiers, etc.)  especially for battle or war
On this drizzling and gloomy day, I find it difficult to muster up my go-getter attitude.  I could, however, muster up a good book and a cozy blanket and settle in on the couch.

Dusting off the scale...literally

Occasionally, I jump ease on the scale while thinking thoughts of light things like butterflies, feathers or whispers.  I have weird rituals that I do before attempting to get on the scale.  Here is my list:
  1. Empty my bladder
  2. Strip down to my unders
  3. Dust off the scale
These are all ways, that I feel, make that scale number a bit lower.  I am sure a full bladder, clothing, and those dust particles and loose hairs lying on the scale will add at least 10 pounds.

So why do I torture myself with this device called the scale? The scale is my appliance tester.  If my weight stays the same or is lower, then I know that my dryer is working properly and not shrinking my clothes.  If my weight goes up, then I know that perhaps the dryer may need to be serviced or that the scale is broken.

Word of the Day

Maffik     \MAF-ik\
  • to celebrate with boisterous rejoicing and hilarious behavior
If I were to describe girls' wine night, maffik would be the word I would use!

If you are going to do it, do it right.

I just realized how much not doing a half-assed job has been ingrained in me. Hubby and I had a debate on whether we should make another pot of coffee.  I am an all-or-nothing kind of girl, so when he suggested making a half a pot of coffee I thought it was an absolutely brilliant idea!  I sure wouldn't have thought of it.

Word of the day

Stoic     \sto-ik|
  • a person who accepts what happens without complaining or showing emotion
When I am excitedly babbling nonsense and my husband just sits there with a stoic expression, I accept that as a challenge.  I will not stop my insanity until I break him and make him smile or run in fear.  Whichever comes first.

You are such a deer!

Here is a masculine thank you card that I created.  I love that it is simple and yet I was still able to add some bling without making it look girly.  Bling is so my thing!

Word of the Day

Fusty     \FUSS-tee|
  • saturated with dust and stale odors : musty
  • rigidly old-fashioned or reactionary
I was absolutely thrilled at the amount of fusty old books stacked on a table at a garage sale I stopped at.  My mind was a whirlwind at all the reading material and creative inspiration lying between the covers of those books.

Ode to a Muse

I am feeling a creative block.
You have the key to my lock.
Turn the key.
Spring me free.
Watch my creativity take flight
And end this uninspired blight.
                              ~Shelly Bowe

I love my muse!  It never ceases to amaze me the things that she and I can come up with.  Do you believe in muses?  Maybe you don't, but I need to believe in a muse.  It gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling knowing I am not alone in my creative journey.  My muse and I are a team and we are rocking Team Creativity.

I think we all should acknowledge our muse.  Maybe give our muse a nickname like Musetang Sally, Musealicous, or Velma.  My muse's name is Cindy.  I know, unusally tame for me, but I did an excercise and that is the name I came up with.  I took a deep breath, closed my eyes and thought what is my muse's name and Cindy is the first name that popped in my head.

It was absolutely shocking and thrilling for me that this was the name that came to me as one of my very dear friends was named Cindy.  She passed away 7 years ago.

So now when I head for my Creative Closet, I give Cindy a shout out and say "Let's do this!"

What is your muse's name?

Word of the Day

Malapropism     \MAL-uh-prah-piz-um|
  • The usually unintentionally humorous misuse or distortion of a word or phrase; especially: the use of a word sounding somewhat like the one intended but ludicrously wrong in the context.
  • Please pass the Partisan cheese. (Parmesan)
  • We look to have a profit this physical year. (fiscal year)
  • Her cuticle is the second to the last one.  (cubicle)
She said "Pick me up a can of meandering oranges at the grocery store."  I looked at her and said, "I will try but I am not sure I am going to catch them."  She looked at me a bit stunned and then I could see the light bulb go on over her head and she busted out laughing.  I said "You have just given me the funniest example of malapropism!"
