I absolutely love cutting out pictures and words out of magazines. I am a hoarder of magazine clippings. It really doesn't make a lot of sense to just collect words and pictures and not use them so I decided to start an art journal to incorporate my clippings and explore different creative techniques.
On this page, I fell in love with my "mistake". I used a brayer to try and smooth out the picture of the beautiful house and field of flowers and it just added more wrinkles and to my horror peeled up some of the picture. I thought everything was absolutely ruined. I walked away and when I came back to see if I could fix the picture some how; I looked at it with fresh eyes.
I kind of liked how it looked a little faded and aged; it took out the perfect, like I had just cut it out of a magazine, look and I decided to leave it as is.
Sometimes I have to remind myself that art journaling isn't about the perfection; it is about the process. I will love and I will hate some of the things I create, but that isn't the point. The point is that I am creating and I am letting myself just BE.
