Word Sorter

One of my favorite things to do while watching TV is to cut up magazines. The vivid colors of the words and pictures just make me giddy.

I was a little frustrated with my system of cutting up magazines though.  I had a lap tray and I would sort the words in alphabetically order, put the pictures in a pile and then transfer them into a big Ziploc bags once the pile got too big.  And this worked out great, until I had to move or the slightest breeze [like from the wagging of a large dog tail] would send the words scattering.

I racked my brain for a couple of days to try and figure out a better system to contain the words and then I had an "Ah Ha" moment and thought toilet paper rolls!  I never thought I would say that one of my "Ah Ha" moments involved toilet paper rolls, but there you have it.

I spray painted the TP tubes white so that they were a little brighter and it would be easier to see the letters on the tubes.  I then used my circle punch to cut circles out of an cereal box and then glued the circles to the bottom of the TP tubes.

I cut and pasted a letter on each of the tubes and then lined up the tubes in a plastic container.  The container I had was a little bit too big so the tubes were a bit tipsy, but I put a narrow tray from the dollar store in the front of the container to hold my scissors and glue stick and the tray held the tubes snugly so I could move the container and not worry about anything spilling or flying away.

Now I use my lap tray to peruse and cut magazines while my handy dandy word sorter sits next to me on the arm of my recliner.  And if my ADD kicks in, clean up is a breeze, I just stuff my word sorter back in my craft room.

Wow! I sound like an infomercial.  And you TOO can have your very own Word Sorter for 3 easy payments of $199.95!  LOL

Thanks for stopping by!

Meet Asmund

This past weekend we found a "tenant" for our fairy/gnome door.  His name is Asmund (AHS-moont) which is Norwegian and it means Divine Protector and I thought that it would be nice to have a Divine Protector in our front yard.  He has such an adorable face!

Now we will look for friends and maybe a gal pal for Asmund!

Panda Card

It never ceases to amaze me when I remember the golden rule of KISS.  I tend to make things more complicated than they need to be. I think one of my mottos for 2016 is going to be Keep It Simple Stupid.

This panda card that I made was so simple and yet so darn cute.

Our nephew loves pandas and since I did not have any panda stamps I, of course, went searching on Pinterest for ideas.  A little black paint and wahlah I had a panda card!

Thanks for checking me out!
